Install the device

Some information about the bus operation and the USB cable are provided:

• The device is moved by the bus.Therefore, no external power supply must be connected, since the required current is provided by the connected USB connections.
• Passive USB hubs or USB connections such as keyboards, rats or similar products cannot be used or connected to the device.
• Make sure the connections are inserted correctly.
• Never use pressure to connect the cables.Check the polarity before joining!

Connect the device to your computer

1. Connect the USB micro-B connection 3.2 Gen 1 to the corresponding connection of the unit itself.
   
   MONITORING:Requires USB port Type A.
2. Connect the type -a -usb connection to a USB type A -Port of your computer to a USB type and completely initialize your computer.

<Windows PC>

Immediately,

• The Power/Data indicator light illuminates
• The device calls
• The device has to assemble and a new drive symbol should be displayed in "My Computer".

Disassembly and separation of the unit

It is strongly recommended not to separate the device by separating the cable connection, since the data can be recorded in the device at this time.This data is lost and the device can be physically damaged!

Follow the following steps to define a safe disassembly of the device.

<Windows PC>

1. Click on "Hardware and Media, the Symbol".
   A pop-up news field is displayed in which external devices are listed that are connected to your computer.
2. Select the Toshiba unit.
   After a few seconds you will receive a notification that it is now certain to remove the device.
3. Click on "OK" and you can now separate the device.

• Q: Do I need USB drivers for Windows?
  A:No, you are now available in your operating system.
• Q: Can I initialize my system in unit?
  A:No, because Windows does not support the initialization of external hard drives.
• Q: Why doesn't the device need a fan?
  A:The units are designed in such a way that they have the best heat department and therefore no fan is required.This leads to an almost quiet operation.
• Q: Why is the ability of my unit (as shown in windows) lower than the units, the declared real capacity?
  A:This difference can be explained by the different capacity calculation methods.
  Manufacturers of hard drives calculate the decimal system, while the operating system is calculated in the binary system.
  Decimal example:

  Binary example:
  1 GB = 1,024MB = 1,048,576 KB = 1,073.741.824 Bytes
  As a result, only 931 GB (binary) appears under Windows.
• Q: Can I use my device to copy an operating system from one computer to another?
  A:No, you must follow the instructions for operating system suppliers for installation.A simple copy does not work.

Problems solution

• My computer does not recognize the hard disk unit.
