Penlac (Ciclopirox) belongs to the group of medicines known asAntimykotika.Prevents certain types of fungus from growing and multiplying. The cream and lotion form of Penlac (Ciclopirox) takes some getting used toTreatment of certain types of fungal skin infections. The varnish form is used as part of a treatment plan for fungal nail infections. The shampoo form of Penlac (cyclopirox) is used for treating and preventing dandruff or for treatingseborrheic dermatitis(a condition of the scalp that causes itchy, scaly, scaly, red skin) caused by a specific fungus on the scalp. This medicine may be available under various trade names and/or in different forms.A particular brand of Penlac (ciclopirox) may not be available in all forms or approved for all conditions discussed here. Also, some forms of Penlac (cyclopirox) may not be used for all conditions discussed here. Penlac Dosage
Enamel:Penlac nail polish (ciclopirox) is usually applied to the affected nails once a day at bedtime or at least 8 hours before washing the affected area. Before using this medication for the first time and once a week while using Penlac (ciclopirox), remove any loose nails or nail bits with nail clippers or nail files. Then, using the applicator brush provided, apply the polish evenly across the entire nail, the skin around the nail, the underside of the nail and the skin underneath. Let the nail polish dry (about 30 seconds) before putting on socks or stockings. Apply daily on the previous layer. Remove ink with isopropyl alcohol once a week. You should file the loose nail material (with a file) and trim the nails as needed or as directed by your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes (eg mouth) and avoid contact with skin other than the skin around the nail(s) to be treated. Do not use nail polish on treated nails. Penlac varnish (cyclopirox) should be stored at room temperature. Protect Penlac (ciclopirox) from light by keeping the bottle in the carton after each use. Keep away from heat and flame. Cream or Lotion:Gently massage the medicine into the affected and adjacent skin areas twice a day, morning and evening, for at least 4 weeks. If there is no improvement in symptoms such as itching within 2 weeks, contact your doctor. Do not use Penlac (cyclopirox) in your eyes or vagina. Store the cream or lotion at room temperature and out of the reach of children.
Shampoo:Penlac shampoo (ciclopirox) is usually used two or three times a week, or whenever recommended by your doctor. Wet your hair and apply enough shampoo to create a rich lather. Massage the scalp with your fingertips for 2 to 3 minutes, then rinse your hair well. Repeat lathering and rinsing.
Keep Penlac shampoo (ciclopirox) out of eyes and eyelids. If the medicine comes into contact with the eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Penlac (Ciclopirox) Shampoo may cause discoloration of gray, white or chemically damaged hair. Store shampoo at room temperature and keep out of reach of children.
